Walter had six grandchildren – Paige Cherry, Kyle Phillips, Megan McCormick, Erin Bingham, Garrett Bingham and Morgan Bingham; 4 great-grandchildren – Landry Hopkins, Olivia Hopkins, Charlie Phillips and Crew Phillips. He was killed by Regina McWilliams Bingham, his spouse of about 60 years.
